Akoya-Perlen-Kaufberater – Japanische Zuchtperlen

Akoya-Perlen are the original Zuchtperlen, perfected in Japan in 1893 by Kokichi Mikimoto. They come aus Pinctada fucata, the small japanische akoya Muschel, und they have the highest Spiegel-luster aus any Zuchtperlen.

1. Was makes Akoya einzigartig

Cold winters in Japan slow Perlmutt Ablagerung, producing tighter, denser Perlmutt layers. This is why Akoya-Perlen have such sharp Spiegel reflections — the layered structure refracts light more uniformly than thicker, faster-grown Perlmutt. The trade-off: Akoya Perlmutt is thinner insgesamt (0.4-0,8 mm vs 2–6 mm for Südsee), so they require more careful handling.

2. Sizes und prices

Akoya-Perlen are smaller than other cultured types — 5mm to 9,5 mm typical. The 7–8 mm range is most-requested for tägliche Nutzung.

Größe AAA price (per pearl)
5–6 mm 30–80 USD
7-7,5 mm 60–180 USD
8-8,5 mm 120–300 USD
9-9,5 mm 250–700 USD

Authentic Hanadama comes mit PSL (Pearl Science Lab) certification aus Japan. Hanadama 8–9 mm Strang typically run 1,500–4,000 USD — comparable to mid-tier Südsee pricing für eine very different aesthetic.

4. Farbe caveats

Most Akoya-Perlen are white mit subtle pink overtones. natürlich blue-black Akoya exist but are extremely rare — characterized by metallic blue-purple sheen. "Black" Akoya-Perlen in Schmuck are almost always dyed; reputable sellers disclose this. Genuine pink und lavender Akoya are also rare; most pink-toned Akoya is dyed.
